Cheryl Naylor, our Lead Coach, Team Manager and Chairperson, has been named Coach of the Year by Netball East Midlands.
The award was presented in July at Derbyshire County Cricket Ground, at a joint presentation held by Netball East Midlands alongside the county associations and the Yardley League. It was a special year to be recognised: England Netball is celebrating its centenary, one hundred years of the sport in this country, and the evening marked that alongside the season’s awards.
Cheryl has been part of Ripley Netball Club since the very beginning. The club started in June 1994 on the outdoor court at Ripley Leisure Centre with a handful of women, one netball and a borrowed basketball. It now has more than a hundred members across nine squads, with a junior section that is always full.
Anyone who has been coached by Cheryl, or has stood on the sideline watching her coach, will know exactly why this one was deserved. Congratulations from everyone at the club.
